How to write a cover letter that gets read
- Open with value, not "I am writing to apply". Say what you bring in one sentence.
- Prove it with one result that matches the job's top requirement, with a number.
- Show you chose them: one specific reason (a product, a value, recent news).
- Close with a clear next step: "I'd welcome a conversation about…"
- Keep it under one page and match the company's name, the job title and the hiring manager's name exactly.

FAQ
Do I still need a cover letter in 2026?
Often, yes. Many employers read them for close decisions, and some make them mandatory. A short, specific letter helps; a generic one doesn't.
How long should a cover letter be?
250–400 words or three to four short paragraphs. Never more than one page.
Can I use the same cover letter for every job?
Keep a template, but change the opening, the proof paragraph and the "why this company" line for each application.
Is this cover letter generator free?
Yes. No signup, no limits, nothing stored on a server.
