Canada uses the word resume for most jobs and a CV for academic and medical roles. Canadian resumes look similar to US ones, with a few differences: two pages is common, volunteer work carries real weight, and Canadian spelling mixes British and American forms.

Section order
- Header: Name, phone, email, city/province, LinkedIn.
- Summary of qualifications: 3–5 bullet points or 2–3 lines matching the job.
- Professional experience: Reverse-chronological with results.
- Education: Degree, institution, year; add credential assessment (e.g. WES) if your degree is from abroad.
- Skills / certifications: Technical skills, licences, languages (French is a plus).
- Volunteer experience: Valued by Canadian employers, especially for newcomers.

Work rights and visa status
Newcomers often get fewer calls because employers are unsure about work eligibility. A short line such as "Permanent resident" or "Open work permit valid until 2027" removes the doubt. Citizens don't need to state it.

Common mistakes
